MILF-IT baby, yeah!

Interesting...

I had a topic put to me at work today regarding the free MILF tote bags I've been throwing around. Apparently she had not heard of the term MILF, but her teenage sons had... you can imagine how the scenario played out? "Where did you get THAT mum?" "Someone at WORK gave it to you?" "No, you can't wear that in public"...

Hmmmm, ...despite initially wanting to apologise for this faux par, I persisted...

Most teenage boys will never ever accept their mother into main-stream pop culture. However! Had they seen this SAME bag on the arm of an unrelated pram-pushing hottie, they might have thought it was awsome!

So my thoughts are towards the ones who 'could'. Could you take back a previously derogatory term and own it for yourself? Could you model yourself as a confident, unique individual that does not follow social norms?  Do you approve of yourself as someone others could admire?

If your answer is yes to these, like or not you are a true MILF! So MILF-IT baby, Yeah!

Reading your blog, talking to my young adult son, the quotes that come about include. "It's a great marketing strategy, but no pregnant woman is going to be a MILF, and no bloke is going to see her as a MILF unless he has a fetish toward pregnant women. It's great that women feel good about themselves and their bodies but market to post pregnant women, the hottie pushing the pram, not the one with the big bump. To transform the word MILF from a trashy term away from the MILF hunter and redefining it is a big ask, so it comes down to not just marketing a range of clothing but redefing a term and reeducating the general public as to how classy and tasteful MILF really is. In this case the company. But Mum that's just my opinion" This from a young man who has studied business and now is studying music journalism, one who promotes bands and writes a music magazine. He is current with the 'hip' indie scene. On a personal note, having run my own companies, in a male dominated industry, I know the highs and lows and I understand the marketing and work that goes behind any brand. Branding a company or a product can open opportunities or can limit your product to a specific area. Watching this product and the marketing campaigns unfold has been interesting and lots of fun. I'm glad women are empowered sufficiently to follow their dreams.

Great comment Hanna! Very insightful- thanks! However, "No pregnant woman is going to be a MILF, and no bloke is going to see her as a MILF unless he has a fetish toward pregnant women" ?? Feeling good about yourself and your pregnancy has very little to do with attracting men. That's what a lot of my male critics have trouble with. It's about embracing societal interaction on the same level you would pre-partum and not feeling the need to hide for 9 months. "To transform the word MILF from a trashy term away from the MILF hunter and redefining it is a big ask"- the word it transforming on it's own, without my help. This seems to be a common thread in society. For example, it is now common parlance for women to affectionately call each other ho's, bitches, and even sl#ts. They are words invented by men. Women took them back! I may have limited my target market, but I prefer to see it as 'refining' it, lol ...but that's just my opinion ;)

We could debate these topics for long periods of time, some I agree some I don't but I find them all interesting. I think some is also a generational thing. But the important thing is they are discussed. As for hiding for 9 months.. I think not, not even in my day, I ran a very successful international company that I started during my first pregnancy, I started work in an emergency department of a busy rural hospital during my second pregnancy... there is no shrinking violet there nor is there any reason to hide something so wonderful. Sometimes I wonder what pressures women put on themselves and on other women.
